Pauline Valente Professional MUA - I hope you enjoy my Final Images for the (BA Hons) Media Make-up, Hair and Special Effects. This has been a rollercoaster of emotions, excitement, and self-achievement. The Major Projects Animal Semiotics, Butterfly, Peacock, Raven and Starfish V Pollution is very close to my heart hence the reason I chose this subject.The symbolism for these animals has pushed my designs to be visually exciting and avant-garde inspired.

Image 1 - Raven (Edgar Allan Poe) - Image 1: The Raven, based on the poet Edgar Allan Poe, the wig was made and styled for the photoshoot, a postiche moustache was made and styled, and a raven mask was used to symbolise the Raven with extra feathers. Skull sculpted, moulded and made from resin.
Butterfly Avant-garde styled wig - IMAGE 2 - This inspired butterfly wig is to showcase beauty, nature and transformation. Taxidermy butterflies were gently attached and removed after the photoshoot to preserve them. This Avant-garde designed wig was inspired by the nature and beauty of butterflies. Thank you to my beautiful friend and model (Charlie).
Peacock Headpiece - IMAGE 3 - This Peacock Inspired headpiece, symbolises Royalty and Beauty - the headpiece was designed and made to showcase the Peacock but also show decadence, royalty and beauty. Thank you to my beautiful friend and model (Abida).
Starfish V Pollution (Crochet Wig) - Image 4: The regeneration of starfish through pollution in our seas. This image was inspired by the results of my primary research, many answers for Starfish and what they symbolise were regeneration and beauty. This image represents pollution and how it damages our seas, destroying marine life; however, the starfish can regenerate and fight back even when damaged.
